Magazine Working Title
MARMALADE this is my idea for the mast-head, because it reflects the reggea theme. The strap line would be "Coz we're Jamm'in". This clever play-on-word would hopefully attract the readers attention and also make the reader immediately know what the magazine is about, setting the tone.
Target Audience
Therefore, my target audience would be Males/Females aged 15-20, who like reggea music and fashion.
My Psychographic target audience would be ABC1 readers, who are obviously into reggea, also classed as 'the rastas'.
Price and PublishingThe price point would be roughly £3, this is enough to make it glossy, yet cheap enough for people to buy, hopefully keeping circulation high. It would be a monthly magazine as weekly would be hard to find as many reggea band and new clothing to find.
Content
The content would mainly include music and fashion, with insights into up and coming festivals and gigs, plus reviews on cd's, and gigs too. The fashion side will cover new looks, with a reggea twist, containing reggea shoes, watches, braceletes, t-shirts, jackets, etc. There's also gossip on bands, tributes, and new solo artists too.
The USP
The unique selling point would be that it's a niche market yet, many people are into the reggea theme, plus Bob Marley is one of the most famous names in music history. In my magazine I also would like to make mine very different to others; I'd like it to be somewhat of a tumblr page, where its more pictures than writing, and people can browse through making their own opinions up and looking into depth about what each picture means, and to be able to look through the fashion and trend set. The style throughout the magazine would be the first half pictures and ideas. and the second half would be reviews, new cd's and gossip. Another USP would be the QR (quick response app) which when taken a photo of you can access online pages. Each week our magazine would have online extras to see exclusive information (which would be placed inside the front of the magazine).
